The less perfect the initial demo is the smoother and faster the whole production process is.
Why?
Because once a customer have a perfect song demo, then stronger "demo-syndrome" comes in.
The customer gets too used to his original instrumentation and individual sounds in his demo, and when I come up with something new and fresh, the customer has a hard time accepting it, even if it's a change for the better.
If a customer has a strong "demo-syndrome", the song potential is driven down, there is no room to grow. Then it's usually better to just do audio mastering only of that initial demo without any music production or any deeper tonal changes. And everyone is happy...
There is no room for any music or even audio production because of customer's mindset.
The customer is blocked in his/her demo-syndrome.
That's why the sooner a customer sends his/her initial demo the better.
